Who Are You? What Are You Made Of?

The truth about every product is hidden in the manufacturer's manual, just like the secrets of successful people are in their stories. Many people believe in so many things as to how human beings came about, really fantastic stories. Some are of the claim that humans came from monkeys, stones, fishes,... among other things. Humans have been searching for a long time for a form of "perfect world" which we see to have in our heads but cannot be physically seen. For this, we have invented religions we call  Scientology, Islam, Nonreligious (Secular/Agnostic/Atheist), Hinduism, Chinese traditional religion, Buddhism, Judaism, Bahai...etc all in search for "something" which we cannot explain. The word religion originated from a Latin word which simply means to reconnect. All forms of religion are an attempt to seek and reconnect to "someone or something" we lost contact with, and so religion is necessary only when you're searching. But once you've found who you're looking for, you no more need religion but a relationship with that person. 

The Bible is the word of God for us, it is also the instruction manual for human beings, it is not a religious book as many see it to be but the instruction manual for our life. The book of Genesis says "In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. - Genesis 1:1(KJV)". The bible goes on to state how God called things into being. 

Verse 11 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed,..." 

Verse 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature..." 

Verse 24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle,..."

So when God wanted to create the tree, he spoke to the ground, when He wanted to create the fishes, He spoke to the waters, when he created the Sun, he spoke to the firmaments. But when God wanted to create man, He spoke to Himself; "Let us make man in our own image..." 

Genesis 1:26(KJV) And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So since man is in the image of God, why can't we see God like we see other people? Well, the Bible says In John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. So this goes to say that since we are in the image of God, we are spirits also. 

Confused? Don't be!

In Genesis 1:27 (NLT) So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. and the seventh verse of the second chapter says Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. 

"Create" means to bring something into existence, "Make" means to form something by putting existing things together.

These are two different things made, chapter 1 of Genesis talks about how God made man (spirit) in his own image, and verse 7 of the same chapter records how God made a "container" for the man whom he had created. And so man became a legal person on earth. Legal because to be able to live on the planet, you'll need an earth body to be legal on earth and so the moment man (spirit) loses his/her body, he is no more legal on earth. That is why when God wanted to save the man He had created on earth, He had to come legally with an earth body. 

6Yes, remember your Creator now while you are young, before the silver cord of life snaps and the golden bowl is broken. Don’t wait until the water jar is smashed at the spring and the pulley is broken at the well. 7 For then the dust will return to the earth, and the spirit will return to God who gave it. - Ecclesiastes 12:6-7 (NLT)

Man is a spirit, he has a soul and lives in a body.
