Accountability or answerability can be simply defined to as having responsibility to someone for some activity done. Throughout life, we are faced with stages of accountability. Even in school, it is required that a student accounts for what he/she has learnt over a period before he/she can be promoted to the next stage. The same principle works in workplaces. Bosses require accountability from employees, the board of directors, from managers, parents, from children, governments, from citizens and citizens from the governments. So accountability is always required whenever there is a responsibility . Responsibility therefore, is the state of having a duty to perform certain actions and hence, you are held answerable for that duty to whoever entrusts the responsibility to you.
